Meet our team



Stacy A. Stein, LCPC sstein@mascoutahwellnesscenter.com



Stacy is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She studied psychology at McKendree College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001. From there, Stacy attended Webster University, where she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling in 2003. She worked as a Mental Health Counselor for 10 years at a community mental health agency. The last 4 of those 10 years, Stacy also worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor. In 2010 she became certified as a DUI evaluator. Stacy has a wide array of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. In 2014 she completed a 50-hour training to become EMDR trained (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She has also worked with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief (including pregnancy loss and survivors of suicide), stress, alcohol abuse, and substance abuse. Stacy founded Mascoutah Wellness Center in 2013.



Erica Langenfeld, LCPC elangenfeld@mascoutahwellnesscenter.com



​Erica is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University in 2012, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling from Lindenwood University in 2015. With over a decade of experience, Erica has experience in assisting youth and adults to develop coping strategies and manage symptoms related to various conditions, including Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, as well as Adjustment issues and life changes. In addition to private practice, Erica has gained valuable experience working in diverse settings such as schools, outpatient programs, and residential facilities. She holds a Certification in Integrative Mental Health, enabling her to take a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. Erica also utilizes an eclectic treatment approach, recognizing that each individual is unique and responds to therapy in different ways.



Dionne Gerfen, MA, LCPC

Dionne has applied for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology in 2008 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she graduated in the top 5% of her class. She went on to obtain her Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling in 2010 at Lindenwood University. Dionne has worked in the counseling field for the last 10 years. She has provided counseling in school and office settings, adjunct psychology professor and behavioral health site manager. She is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and has provided counseling to children, adolescents and adults in the form of individual, group, family and couples therapy.



Jamie N. Hults, LPC

Jamie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. She studied Psychology and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in 2009. Jamie worked as direct care staff/supports at an eating disorder residential/PHP/Outpatient facility for three years while completing her Master's Degree program. She graduated in 2017 receiving her Master's of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling. Jamie worked as a mental health counselor for seven years at a community mental health agency. She became Trauma Level One certified during this time while working with individuals who experienced extensive traumas and who struggled with PTSD and Complex PTSD. Jamie has a wide array of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has experience with individuals in a group therapy setting and providing parenting education classes. She has experience working with, but not limited to, individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief (including pregnancy and child loss), bipolar disorder, ADHD, self-harm behaviors, domestic violence, and other life stressors.



Angela Knaub, MS, LPC

Angela is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois with additional experience in the field of education. She studied literature and composition at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education in 2007. After completing ten years as a secondary teacher, Angela spent several years working as an education and career specialist for young adults. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2025. During her time at Mascoutah Wellness Center, Angela has worked with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, grief, and self-harm. Angela uses a humanistic approach, believing in each individual's capacity for personal growth. She often integrates mindfulness-based techniques and art therapy into her practice.




Amber Kiser-Benfield, Office Manager

Amber received her Associates Degree in General Studies from Kaskaskia College in 2016. She has worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for over 10 years and brings much experience in administrative, customer service, billing, and IT support services to the table.
